9-27-12: Stoughton vs. Fort Atkinson

Last week the Vikings played against Fort Atkinson.  Unfortunately Jeff couldn't be there, so I didn't completely understand everything that happened.

Also unfortunately, Rhy didn't play *sad* but Stoughton did win *happy*.  Rhy was even jumping around on the sidelines because she was so happy with how the game was going, so that's a good thing - she was enjoying it.

Hopefully this week she will get some playing time.  You listening to me, Coach?

Luckily, I got a couple of in-focus pictures, which is something that I struggle with at night.

Unluckily, I just missed Eli with his arm around Rhy - which was sweet.  I need to find a good mix of watching the game and being in my camera...  Any advice, sports parents?

Also, this was the couch that Mom & Dad purchased shortly after I was born.  And when I was a freshman in college, my roommate & I purchased its twin from the Salvation Army.  Ahh, memories...

***Editted to add:  My family has never been very inventive on pet names, which is why we had Kitty, Momma Kitty, Boots, Bun-Bun (a rabbit), and my sister now has a cat named Smokey.  Recycling at its finest...***

 Today my youngest cousin, Daniel, is deploying to Afghanistan   This is his second deployment.  He got home last summer, and while he was home, we were treated to a wedding.  Daniel and his lovely bride were married just before Christmas, and have had about 9 months of marital bliss.

Daniel was caressing her hand through most of the ceremony.  It was really lovely.

Why does it take this kind of a situation to remind us of all of the people affected by the war?  Hopefully we all remember those who are serving, both overseas and at home, but do we remember the families, the spouses, children, parents, siblings, friends, family?

So, today, I ask you to stop and think, say a prayer, send good thoughts, to Daniel, Bethany, their families, and everyone in and affected by the Armed Services.

Problem is, until he gets home again, my stomach will churn every time I see an e-mail come from his sisters.

Stay safe, Daniel.  We love you!

Garage Sale - scheduled!

For the very first time ever, I'm having a garage sale.  I've only participated in garage sales before.  I've made about $50 in some sales, but I've never had enough stuff to have my own sale.  I've only ever had things like Barbies and some clothes to sell.

And then Jeff moved in.

When you combine two households, you end up with A LOT of stuff.  Two couches.  Two vacuums.  Two irons.  Two table & chair sets.  Five sets of dishes.  In general, A LOT of stuff.

So you get a storage unit.  And you spend too much on that storage unit every month for two and half years.  And then you do the math and realize you've probably spent almost $3000 on storage, and you decide it's time to sell some stuff.

That's where we are now.

So, this Saturday we are having a garage sale from 7A-2P.  Need stuff?  Come on by.  I'm just nervous trying to figure out timing.  You know, timing of putting out signs and setting stuff up and I told Jeff that he wouldn't have to do much for this garage sale because he wasn't interested in having one in the first place.

In a week I'll let you know if the garage sale was a success.
